I forgot on my last reply about a thing I learned last year. I learned that it is more seaman like to put your stop knots about 12 to 16 inches ahead of the tag end of your lines so that if they ever get away, they will catch in a fairlead or block like they are supposed to but they will leave a handle to grab to recover the line.
