Pretty boats!  Sometimes I wish I had gone with a canoe or kayak plan.  So many more strips left to go...
Some mistakes I'll have to fix...  Note that I figured out the right way to make this joint... eventually.  Smile

Is that TiteBond? As a rule, it's best to use a screw, often with a backing plate (scrap piece of plywood), as it will "suck up" the piece trying to spring away.
Yes, titebond for the strip-strip bond.  I have some drywall screws and decking screws that might work for that, but I'd have to pre-drill.  The nails are working surprisingly well. They're driven in straight, then bent slightly downward.  I haven't had any pull out yet, but these have been fairly easy curves.  I just put in stealer planks on both ends and both sides because edgeset of the strips was getting too much for my spring clamps.  Switching to screws about now makes sense, as I'm approaching the turn of the bilge.  I've been beveling my strips as I put them on and have noticed that they need more and more as I go.
Forgot to mention, there may be some confusion about the pic.  The pieces to the far side are not springing off the stem. I just cut the pieces on the near side to short.  I started out planking the "long side first, then trying to cut the "short" side  to fit.  It took a few tries to figure out that it' easier to plank the "short" side and cut it flush with the stem, then lay the longer strip.

Paul told me this would work.  I just didn't imagine it would work SO WELL!

Aesop's fables and Paul's tricks fall into the category of, "Well I'll be danged!".  I think it has something to do with past lives and channeling or just lots and lots of experience.
BTW: Yes that is a pair of vise-grips being used as a clamp.  Any port in a storm...
Will,

No need to apologize.  I and several other wood workers I know have made make shift clamps out of scrap wood.  You cut a 5-6" narrowing wedge into the end of a 1x3 and gently tap it onto the two edges you need to hold.  It works well and is easily removed by tapping it off.  I have done the same with 2x4s bolted together, where you tighten the bolt, pieces of 1x1" or plywood with tightened string or twine for tension and even used some barbed wire bent then twisted together for tension.  After years of wood working I probably have more then 100 clamps.  Quick clamps and C clamps of varying sizes make up the bulk of that number but there are several pipe clamps and even a few odd corner ones but when building a boat you can't have to many.  The boat build is looking super, btw, I always wanted to build a rounded hull boat and stripe building would be the method I would use.  Kepp the pictures coming they are inspirational.
