i recently put together a 12v lantern of my own design in an attempt to keep with the antiqe look of my weekender. i intend to have it out on the water after dark and need to be kosher with the the laws of the lake. i am very happy with how it turned out but have not been able to come up with an idea for the top of my mast. i want whatever light goes on top to look at least a little "old school". i have heard of people hoisting kerosene lamps or oil lamps up top but my wooden boat is alergic to fire and fuel. i like the idea of using an l.e.d for light. i am not sure if it is visible from a mile.
the visual design is really what is puzzling me. any ideas would be hot. i am not againsed purchasing a light but have not found one i can afford or that i like.
