The winds were so fierce that two trucks blew over on the highway up there last week and gusts were up to 80 mi per hour this weekend...nice lake but unpredictable wind conditions while storms move in from the north....

still, i can't wait to put Morgaine on that lake...

Hmmm. Interesting. So, which lake are we looking at?

Can't wait. Half-Fast has been on "materials hold" for the last two weeks. Got the mast glued up. Got all the panels and stringers to the mini cup cut out, along with the spars. Sooner or later, I'll have a couple o' boats.
Hey Brit - THat thar is Walker Lake Nevada and like the great Salt Lake it is a natural lake left over from the great Lahontan Ocean....I have a place on the hill...makes a nice get away.

i just posted the rest of the photos...some are very nice:

i really can't wait to sail on that lake...there were some boaters out and plenty of people fishing...it is a huge lake and I go to the north end for photos at a place called 20 mile beach...

i have got to get my trailer fixed...noone but me is going to do it...sometimes it is hard to get motivated but this trip without the boat did it for sure. Might have been too rough sunday to sail but today would have been perfect.

Nice looking lake Adla, the picture would be postcard complete with Morgaine sailing in it. 80 knot winds Confusedhock: , that would require some serious reefing on the sails. You best get your axle fixed and enjoy the sailing. We have 12-18 inches of hard water up here now, and no sign of sailing weather until May. My son and I are starting his Skipjack construction soon, How's your Triad project progressing?
Hi Greg-

The triad was on hold through the holidays and my playing around time (first of January) but I am ready to get cookin on it again. I was waiting on fastners and have 1400 ss screws now so - NO EXCUSES!!!

It has seen a touch of weather but I had epoxy coated the ply and so it isn't noticeable....thankfully Las Vegas weather is cooperative - hardly a day that the sun doesn't shine.

That skipjack is a goodlooking boat - I look forward to seeing your progress on that. (it is on my lONG LIST OF PROJECTS too)

You better let me know... I'm only about 120 miles away from that lake.

Peace,

Wow that is a pretty place. The water is so clear. Down south the lakes are kinda murky. Hope you had a great time

Keith
Hi Keith -

Its super clear right now...in fact it took me by surprise Confusedhock: the lake has these huge drop offs near shore...you can see them and it is neat and creepy all at once....you see land and rock for 3 or 4 feet and then it is just DEEP and soo soo pretty. The clear is because it is cold and it has more water in it this year....in the summer it is plenty murky and there are spiders everywhere...but I kinda like the spiders (and they are EVERYWHERE) ....

maybe I will get motivated and get the axle back on the trailer this weekend...

Adla,
I sent you an E-mail, but will ask you here, since the forum's not too busy....
On the Walker Lake website is mentioned concerns about water level of the lake resulting from development upstream. Are residents out there concerned?
(Bugs don't scare me either...uh. .How big are these spiders? javascript:emoticon('')
