Wow, is that water really that blue? and did you have wind? Big Grin
I know I missed a fun time Cry tell us more!!!!
Looks like I missed a good time. No worries, I'll be ready for the next one.
the water was really that blue, it was even clear for the most part. as far as wind goes we had plenty up until about noon or so when it died almost completely. there were even whitecaps on the lake. Steve and Adla had to reef their sails even.
I started out innocently enough,
Another BYYB event far away,
This time to Lake Pleasant, Arizona
By 8:30 we were underway.

Got as far as WalMart
To get some snacks and ice,
My wife forgot her pills
So we got to leave home twice.

Dropped Morgan off in Mesquite
To spend the weekend with her brother,
Doesn't get to see him much,
It was a weekend like no other.

So it was just the two of us,
Enjoying our time together,
The beautiful desert landscape,
And just plain gorgeous weather.

Had to fill the tank in Kingman
Then on to Wickenburg town,
Turned left on Highway 74,
We really get around.

Arrived at Lake Pleasant finally
Paid our fees at the main gate,
Drove right up to the campground,
It was getting kind of late.

There we found the Southwest Fleet
They'd saved a spot for us,
We set up camp with lots of help,
Didn't even hear Bill cuss.

They even had dinner ready for us,
Didn't have to dirty a pan,
Colonel Cluck-a-buck by the bucket,
Enough for me and Jan.

In the morning after breakfast
What was it? About nine o'clock?
Got our boats in the water
And tied them up to the dock.

The boats were all rigged and ready,
What a sight to see,
Against his better judgement of course
Jim decided to sail with me.

We started out under shortened sail,
I'm still a novice you know,
The wind was blowing like crazy
And we were really on the go.

Pretty soon, it seemed to me,
We wern't going anywhere,
Not a puff of wind in sight,
The lake was rather bare.

"You have auxilliary power"? asked Jim,
"We really should skedaddle",
"Of course we have auxilliary", I said,
And handed him a paddle.

Jim paddled quite a bit
Then handed it to me,
We wern't making a lot of headway
As far as I could see.

John Teetsel happened to come along
And grabbed our bow line,
Towed us back to the the dock
Because it was lunch time.

Lunch was the usual fantastic,
Burgers, hot dogs and such,
Mr. Vern showed up to join us
I enjoyed him very much.

We went back out on the water,
It was a pretty good stiff wind,
It was enough to get us out there
Then it quickly died again.

But Jim is a darn good paddler now,
He's been practicing quite a lot,
Bill came along to help us out,
At least that's what we thought.

Surprise, surprise, he got us,
With his water cannon supreme,
Jim got the worst of it though,
He was a s wet as I'd ever seen.

Now and again the breeze would blow,
Enough to give Jim a rest,
But then it would die down again,
That's when Jim was at his best.

We finally made it to the dock,
I think ol' Jim was tired,
He'd had all the fun he could stand,
As his Captain, I was fired.

Back at camp we started dinner
And what a feast we had,
Rib eye steaks, fillet mignon,
All the trimmings, we were bad.

Bill invited some friends over,
We filled them up real good,
Then sat around in the dark
Telling lies like good friends should.

Then Adla asked me kindly
To get out my guitar,
So I sang some songs and recited poems
Out there under the stars.

The night was warm and we slept like logs,
Right through till morning sun,
What a great time we'd had,
Good friends, good food, good fun.

We broke camp, said our goodbys
And we were on our way,
We had a long long way to go,
So we didn't want to delay.

Filled with gas in Wickenburg,
Enjoyed the scenery a bunch,
Made our way across Hoover Dam,
Stopped in Las Vegas for lunch.

Just a we got back on the freeway,
A truck pulled along side,
The lady was pointing and yelling
So much for a nice smooth ride.

The wheel on my trailer was wobbling
I'm saying to myself, "what now"?
I jacked up the trailer and the wheel fell off,
I just about had a cow.

The first thing we did was call Bill Olney,
To get Adla's address and phone number,
Next Jan called a towing service
And I'm thinging "What a stupid blunder".

Just as the boat was loaded on
Adla drove on by,
Wondering what in the world was wrong,
As a matter of fact, so was I.

We followed the truck to Adlas house,
She graciously volunteered
To have me leave it at her place,
Says she'll fix it for me, have no fear.

The Black Falcon is safe and cared for
Thanks to Bill, Adla and the Lord up above,
Thanks for being there when needed,
I'm feeling a lot of love.

Thus ends another successful season
For the Lizards of the Southwest Fleet.
We look forward to another great one,
The BYYB just can't be beat.
Yep :!: I knew I was going to feel bad when I saw the pictures and think of the fun I missed.

Thanks for sharing though -- it does help to read to accounts and see the photos. I can pretend I was there and still feel part of it.

YEP...we missed a good time. :x O-well it's on to the refitting and replacing for next year. I have already removed the roof off the cabin and I,m drawing up the cabin benches. My wife is a lot happier that none of the kids could get trapped inside in case a gust of wind tips Nimbus over. It almost has several times. (operater error) I want to rebuild the rudder box, and flip her over and sand and repaint the bottom. I made room in the garage so when the snow flys I will be ready. Big Grin

Bill~Did you send me your address yet?
