Posting pictures is definately one of the most common questions we get here on the board. Let me just say it is very, very simple.

Fist of all you need to have your photo posted on the internet on a website, or photo gallery somewhere. We have a <a href="http://byyb.org/cpg143/index.php" target="_blank">photo gallery</a> here on the board that registered members can use to upload & store pictures. Saying that we will use the gallery as an example for posting a picture here on the bulletin board.

One thing to note is that images should be resized to a manageable size. This is for two reasons. The first is the file size itself; we cannot host thousands of files that are over 1MB in size as it is taxing on the server. Secondly, if the resolution is too high then images do not fit the screen and people have to scroll up and down as well as side to side to view the image. This again affects server performance. It is recommended that images you store in the gallery do not exceed 800x600 lines of resolution. 640x480 should be more than sufficient, however making the resolution a bit larger may show more detail.

Ok, now that the technicalities are out of the way, let’s assume you have already uploaded your images and that they are now available online in the BYYB photo gallery.

To post an image here on the board simply browse the gallery for your image and click on it. When the image is displayed <b>right-click</b> your "<b>Right</b>" mouse button and select properties from the menu that is displayed.

You will see the general properties for the file including the file name and the location for where it is stored (Also called the "<b>URL</b>“ highlight the <b>URL</b>, right-click on the highlighted text and select "<b>Copy</b>" from the menu displayed. This will allow you to past the <b>URL</b> text into your message posting later when we start typing our message.

With the text copied to the clipboard (Memory) we can go to the forum and post our message like normal. Type in your message how you want it to appear and when you are ready to link in your image click on the button above the message window that says <b>Img</b>. You will get a HTML tag that tells the browser and PHP that you want to post an image.
The Image tag looks like this:

<b>[img]</b>

Next place your cursor after the html tag, <b>right-click</b> your mouse and select <b>paste</b> from the menu options.

Your tag should look similar to this:
[Image: normal_DSCF2553.JPGWe%20have%20our%20tag,%20our%20...g%20tag,%20%3Cb%3E]</b>

When we click the preview button we can see if our image worked.

As you can see below the image I wanted to post has worked just fine.

The key here is knowing where your image is stored online and using the image tag [Img]Your Address Here[/Img] to post the picture. Ultimately you do not need to click the Img button at all if you do not want to. As long as you type the Img tag in before you paste the location of the image and close the tag after you have pasted in the address, it should appear just as in the example above.
