Well - I've finally managed to get my mast box installed. Having read about the problems that others have had with rot and water getting trapped, I thought I'd share my attempt at a solution.

Rather than the normal limber holes that some have tried, I put a piece of 3/4" ply at the bottom of the mast box so that the bottom of the box matches the top of the mast step. I then pre-cut holes in the side pieces and the front. All the pieces of the mast box were also fiberglassed inside prior to assembly.

Hopefully this will work out for me.

Great scuppers! With scuppers like that your mastbox should stay nice and dry.
