Ok guys I know that this will open a can of worms, BUT ...If a guy was going to remove the cabin on his weekender...and add more bench style seats...so that there is more room... How would he go about it?????? has it been done before?????? Am I crazy????? the kids don't want to go inside the cabin, meaning... that I need more room. Confusedhock: Confusedhock:

I really don't want to build a vacationer.
this has been a reocurring thought, and it has been done before... but during the build process; not after the fact, and i can't seem to recall by who.

this is an older posting which discusses the very topic.

i hope this helps... you may want to post this in the builders forum, many more read there.
Bill Paxton and Karl Nisson have both built cabinless weekenders.... both boats look fantastic. Look for photos of MY World, Karl's boat, several have been posted here.
Ok, Darrick, I'm gonna open my big mouth on this one. Remeber, this is only my opinion.... Tongue

I would take a sawzall to the cabin, about 1" to 1 1/2" up from deck level, about in line with the bottom ot the port holes. At the cabin bulkhead, I would come from the splash combing you just created, down at an angle to the "stowage box" at the entrance to the cabin. This bulkhead is structural, so you want to leave as much as possible. Then, add seats to the forward area. Should be a fairly easy modification. Finishing the cuts will be the difficult part.
