Full Version: Belaying Pins

I spent about an hour making 6 belaying pins. First cut the dowels to size; 1 - 3/8" X 5" dowel and 1 - 1 1/4" X 5" dowel. Drill a 3/8" hole 1" deep centered in one end of the large dowel. Sand the large dowel to the shape of belaying pin top, then glue the dowels together. After glue dries round off sharp edge on bottom of pin.

What a great idea! Belaying pins are very salty and very practical as well.
Those belaying pins looked very salty in person! I was very glad to see your boat on the water and finally sailing Ed. Sorry I missed you before you left but we got pretty far downlake pursuing wind. Ended up spending five hours on the water on Saturday and only turned back when the wind pretty much died.
