OK, now I could make it work. How do I remove the extra marker?

Greetings all,
Do we know who created the map in the first place?
I was doing a little research and found this at http://www.mapservices.org/blog/ ...
So whoever created the map in the first place has to remember their password (or recover their password from the web site), login, and change an option on the map to allow users to be able to edit or delete their own markers.
Cheers,
Tom

Finally implemented one of the most requested features ever: now the users are able to edit or delete the markers they placed, with no need to ask for the map owner's help. To activate that feature on your map, just go to the admin area. The new option is called 'Allow users to edit/delete own markers'. Enjoy!

I'm fairly sure Jim Sanders was involved on this. Maybe Craig can find out who's got what . . .

The site was set up by Steve Hunt. I think he is in the Phoenix AZ area but I havent seen anything from him in a couple of years.Â

Greetings all,
I now have control of the guestmap ... muah ha ha ha ha !!!Â
I sent an email to the nice gentlemen at MyGuestmap explaining to them our predicament of loosing the password to our BYYB guestmap and I included a link to this posting on the BYYB. In response, they changed the administrator of the BYYB map to my email address and I was able to recover the password, which by the way I should have been able to guess in the first place.
I have changed the following map attributes.
Now Timo, Heikki, Jesper, Gianluigi and the rest of our European friends fit on the initial display of the map.Â
So you can now edit your own markers, as long as you make the corrections quickly (within one hour).
From looking at the "Message Board" list, I notice that several people have multiple entries, but all of the entries lead to the same position on the map. Either this is an artifact from a previous incarnation of the software, or entering a later maker with the same Name: and Description: overwrites a previous marker. Somebody might want to test this.
I can change or delete any of the older markers, and I would suggest the following procedure to accomplish this task ...
If you have not figured out how to send emails yet, you can just click on a poster's name to view the member Summary page, and then click on the "Send PM" link below the avatar photo to send a personal message (email).
It might take me a day or two to make the updates, as I do not always notice the little read mail flag is up on my inbox.
Cheers,
Tom
PS,
If anybody else wants to do this task or be the map administrator, let me know. I will gladly yield my newly acquired powers to any BYYB officers or interested long-term members.Â
PSS,
I added a few random photos to some of the markers as a few examples of what is possible. The uploaded images get resampled up/down to 140 pixels wide.

- Allow users to edit/delete own markers
(check if you want to allow your users to edit or remove the markers they placed themselves. This will give them 1 hour to fix any misplaced markers!)
- Allow users to upload thumbnails (photos)
- Map Zoom Level From 12 -> 15

- Click on the "Message Board" link, which is the left-most link on the line just below the map display, which should lead to the following URL ... http://www.mapservices.org/myguestmap/ma...sage_board)
- Locate your marker from the displayed list of markers, messages, and time stamps
- Copy the entire line, most importantly including the unique time stamp in the last column
- Paste the line into an email addressed to me at the BYYB with a short note with instructions to either change any of the data fields (Name:, Message:, and/or Link, or to delete the marker entirely so that you can re-add your marker yourself.
