I'm working on my Weekender model, and I'm thinking ahead to painting, which will happen soon.  There are a lot of small nicks etc that I want to fill, but standard Bondo or wood filler is really not appropriate for these very small defects.  My question is, can I add microballoons to latex primer, to smooth the surface and fill tiny voids prior to painting?  What proportion?

PS: I'll post some progress photos soon.

Dave
For defects too small for wood filler or low density epoxy compounds,  I would recommend usin a high-build primer. Put a coat on, sand it down and repeat until the area is fair. Then add your last primer coat and paint.
There's a product designed specifically for this and it's called "glazing putty". It's available at auto parts stores and is a goo in a tube. High build primer works too, though you might need several applications.
