for my superskipjack, i'm building a wooden mast, not the windsurfer mast as shown in the plans. the plans call for a chain link gate latch to be used as the collar between the mast and the gaff. i assume the weekender plans show dimensions, etc for building the wooden version.

mike, if you see this can you send me something? or anyone else with nothing to do this winter Smile any advice on how you've built this connection would be helpful!

thanks guys, merry christmas!
thanks bob, those pics are great! i see 2 gaffs in these pics, i assume this person built a spare?
It's a schooner so two masts and two gaff's( double trouble )

Its a great thread would be worth your time to read it all,do a search on gaff jaws and you will likely find more of interest.

Dont forget to post more pics...

Bob.

This is the first thread. Note, skip page 5 as it has some issue and the information has been moved to page 6.

This is how I sent Timo his plans. He' changed the shape and cabin length, plus chopped off the foremast fiddle.

This is the second part of the thread and again we had a problem on page 12 so skip this page. Timo hasn't posted in a while, I hope he's doing okay.

He's made the station molds and several "boat bits" such as the rudder and the spars, including some very nice work on the gaffs.

Discrete ST (RYD-16.10) is in between a Weekender and Vacationer is size, but has much more internal volume, because she's a round bilge boat of fairly conventional proportions. Because of this she can carry a lot more sail area and stores for cruising. The schooner rig is a bit of fantasy in a boat of this size, but it's what he wanted and does look good. My natural inclination for  rig in a boat of this size is sloop of course, just because it's the most efficient for it's "scale". Discrete ST is a stretched version of Discrete (RYD-14.11) , which is 2' shorter on deck.
