Do you have to use one long 15 foot piece of wood for the cap board on the pocket cruiser or can you use to smaller pieces? Does it make a difference in stability or anything.

Susan what are you calling the cap board?

the 1x3 board that sits on top of the keel boards. I bought 2 10 foot boards to use, but I can take them back if I cant use them.

Susan you can scarf those keel caps and join them with thickened epoxy.  If you are making a replacable cap seal the ends well with epoxy and use a flexable sealer .
