Hey all maybe a few of the old timers remember me. I have been sorting pictures and thought that some of you may find these Vacationer pictures interesting. Most are older grainy scans but here you go anyway. This is RUDUNYET built between 1997 and launched around 2004. She was then sold to Ken a BYYB member but I have not seen or heard anything since she was sold that was 2007 I think.

Enjoy,

Jim

Great photos!  I am building a Weekender right now and I cant get enough of the build photos...

So do you have another boat?  Or sail-less since you sold the boat...and by the way---GREAT NAME...

I like these ones myself.  One from 2003 in Fair Haven and the other two from Lake Connoy.

Our daughters sure nailed me with their water guns.
Andrew you old Canadian sea dog, how are you? Good times and fond memories. Karen still gags when I say squish squish as it reminds her of the trip to Little Sodus Bay where they let us camp on the septic field in the pouring rain. ;D
Hey Matt, Thanks for your interest in my photos. I have completed 1 boat since the sale of the Vac. and am currently working on another.

This is my NF 15 "PRIMROSE" launched 2007

Nice!!!  Just looked at all the Primrose Pictures...gorgeous...how do the boat compare in sailing? construction? cost? etc...

I am new at this but it looks like Primrose is glue and stitch?  I just read a fun little book about this...there were no picts so I imagined it being harder then the stringer method of weekender/vacationer...but you have done both so you can compare...

By the way...here is the link to my build in Napa...its actually a link to my blog which has a alot of pictures and story I am doing for my family,...

Hey Matt,

The vacationer was a speed demon in light winds but always concerned me in heavier air being unballasted and unrightable in a knock down. The NF 15 is a bit of a slug but has great camping accommodations and in my opinion a little more safety addressed in her design. I think both boats are awesome if used as the designer intended.

I think I prefer working with glue and screw (stringers) opposed to stitch and glue but more complex shapes are possible with s&g. S&G tends to be messy and takes a little practice and care to work neat but is very doable for even a first time boat builder.

Good luck with your build and like the conventional wisdom from your other thread...slow and steady gets it done and yes sometimes you just need to walk away for a little while (just be sure to come back).

Hey you pirate - I resemble that remark.  Mary & I were just looking at pictures from the great rainy messabout at Point Lookout and wondering how you and Megan were doing.
Hello Richard,

We are well as I hope that you and Mary are also.  Megan has grown into quite a young woman, I doubt that you would recognize her today. She has become quite a boat builder in her own right.  Great to hear from you maybe we should pick a civil war pow camp with mosquito's as big as fighter planes and have a reunion.  ;D I miss getting together with the BYYB since the NE Fleet and the Erie Fleet have both died.
