where should I put a single reef point in and is a jiffy reefing system worth it for single handing................went out with a very experienced friend and he was able to go upwind and tack much better than I...............very simple really once I saw it first hand............getting the hang of the gaff rig..........man this thing is fun.........................bruce

Hi Bruce, I set up a jiffy rig system on my Vacationer, haven't had much time to test it yet. I'll try to post a few pictures or my rig later this week.

Usually a cruising first reef should take away around 20-25% of your sail area.  Jiffy reefing is handy but not needed.  I like it though and use it, easier to reef with it from the cockpit where you are safer.
