Hi,
I don't know if links to these videos have been posted already, but I thought that they should be shared as I think they're worth a look.

Three video clips of a couple of kids building a Mini-Cup over their Christmas break in 2008! Very cool.

I also posted them on the revised ProjectCam page:

Many thanks and congrats to the young builders.

I wasn't sure about the sailing rig changes - a surprising number of people don't seem to like the lateen sail even though it works really well.

The heavy handles at the bow though are something I wish I'd done on my Mini Cup though.
Andrew: It's been probably almost a third of a century since I sailed my Mini-Cup (a bit too long, perhaps?!?), but I recall the lateen being a pretty damned good rig. We had the same rigs on the sailcars and they screamed! We had a hell of a lot of fun with the lateen-rigged stuff and I never sneer at them. However, I'd very likely do what these kids did if I had access to a windsurfer rig easily. I'm really, really curious to try fiddling with both a windsurfer-style rig on a sailcar and also working on a sort of 21st-Cen high-speed gaff rig so people could make high-speed rigs with tarp-and-tape methods and keep things cheap and homemade. (like the comment you posted on another thread: to keep things DIY, one has to be able to make stuff available cheaply and adaptably. Even words!  Wink )

One of the things I do recall about the Min-Cup is that handles were really useful! Liked the circular openings they put in the bulkhead. I don't recall those in the original.

Nice to see.  These boys have a life long memory.
I love these vid's Mike. I totally enjoyed watching them, I especially like all the smiles when they were sailing the finished product.
