As I posted, here are a few more shots of Peter's new Weekender, this time with the SuperSkipjack alongside to compare the two. I wanted to look at them side-by-side to help decide which to build. I had thought I'd want the easier, lighter, smaller SSkipjack, but my mind was 100% in favor of the Weekender when I saw the cabin again. It's a surprising revelation for both Peter and myself: We both REALLY prefer the Weekender. I may still do a SSkipjack later, but that's a long way off.

Here one can see the size difference of the two boats. The Super Skipjack is a 7/8-scale Weekender at the bow, with the stern being slightly wider in proportion and with a touch less curve to the after hull bottom. The bows, or front 40% or so really, are pretty much the same.

The Weekender is certainly larger-seeming when set next to the SSkipjack. They're neither really large boats, but the Weekender feels BIG next its smaller cousin. I imagine a Vacationer will seem positively grand! (I'm sure we can scare up a Vacationer somewhere around Texas...One advantage to being off the Left Coast: everything seems MUCH closer!

I'm really looking forward to getting both of these out at the same time. While I know we had the original 12' Skipjack and the prototype Weekender at the same time, I don't remember having compared the two at the same time. It must have happened, but who knows where I was...sixteen-year-old flightyness, I suppose.

Thanks for posting those shot Mike. I am always amazed at the size difference between my Vacationer, and the other True North Fleet members Weekenders.

Yep. An extra 4 feet or so doesn't sound like much..... :o
Thanks for posting those pics Keith. That was a fun weekend we had a couple years ago.

Greg
Zounds! It DOES look a heck of a lot bigger...

Hmmm. A SSkip's going to look teeny! Great pics, btw.
