Greetings,

I was surfing and stumbled across this beauty ...

She's the "Lisa K", and she happens to be for sale.

These are the boats that were the inspiration for the Weekender and Vacationer.

Cheers,
Tom
Tom I keep looking at this boat and wish they had more photos of the interior.  Unfortunatly she would be very costly to keep in warm water.  I think there is also a 45 footer for sale over in Holland.  It also looks like a nice boat but she's not a daysailor by any stretch.  Still one can dream.
Greetings Craig,

There were some interior photos at the bottom of this page ...

... just scroll down to the very bottom and click on the images.

But she could be a day sailer, as long as you do not mind sailing every day from the same port.  Her cockpit can easily seat eight or ten, and the sail plan is small enough to single-hand.  But, At 17,500 lbs, with 5 ft of draft, she’s a little more than your average tow vehicle can handle.  It would be nice though.

I’m not so sure what a daysailer is any more.  The Hinckley DS42, Morris 36, and the Friendship 40 are all considered daysailers, even though not one of them can be had new for under $100,000.

I think this is one of those things that absolutely fascinates me about sail boats.  Aside from the fact that they can be astoundingly beautiful (like the Lisa K), they seem to be a problem with no solution.  I want a boat that looks just like the Lisa K, but that I can tow behind a Crow Victoria and keep at home in the garage.  You’d think that would be possible, but nooooo …

A Weekender is a close as it gets.

Cheers,
Tom
That is not really the case Tom.  The solution is: however, a custom design and build.  Have you seen the Freindship that Paul and I are designing?  26' on deck and trailerable.  Your Vic would tow it.  There is a schooner version as well but a bit smaller.  The problem with conventional Friendships is that by the time you get any cabin and cockpit they are so big they have to live in the water(all displacement deep draft hulls).  Trailerable and the cabin and cockpits are just the minimum.  It is tough to  get my wish list shorter than 30ft.    8) 8)
Greetings Craig,

Actually, I am very interested.  We expect to see pictures and drawings as the work progresses.

But you have already proved my point.  At 26ft' on deck, and probably 30ft over all sitting on a trailer, she will not fit in the garage.  I live in a planned unit development (the PUD) with very stringent zoning ordinances (no fences except around pools, no detached storage buildings, no RV or boats in the front driveway, all vehicles must be stored on a paved surface, etc), which while they lead to a extraordinarily beautiful and uncluttered neighborhood, makes it impossible to keep a boat at the house unless it fits in the garage.  So I am giving serious thought into expanding the current two-car garage into a "three+ car" where the additional bay ends up being almost the full depth of the house ... say 12 ft wide by 45 feet deep ... and putting taller garage doors on both ends.  Keep us informed as to the final overall dimensions of your friendship as I want to make sure I build the addition with enough room for hull #2.

You stumbled across that boat while you were surfing? Wow, you could have been killed! Good work having the presence of mind to get a couple of snapshots!
Greetings Keith, Keith, Keith, or Keith.

Did the slide show on the Friendship site listed.  My God that's a beautiful boat!  Stunning!
The Lisa K looks like a beautiful vessel, would turn a lot of heads in our sailing circles up here. Storage wouldn't be a problem with the cruising clubs yard. Season for sailing would only last 3.5 months. The toughest part would be to sell the better half on this as a NEED, She'd probably label is as a want,LOL. Guess I stuck in the dream only.

How's Barnacle Bill's friendship sloop / Vacationer progressing, haven't had an update in a long time?
