Yes, thanks bill I can from now to login and edit my account messages as you can see here ;-)

Well, now some words to present myself :

I'm not yet a real (Amateur) boat builder, but I've owned and done some wooden boat work and I liked it so I would like to begin to build my first dream boat.
To let you see where I am in my learning skill process I have some links to my works :

Tahiti Ketch (from chantiers Sirvent, 1982) :

Well, now I look at this amazing Weekender (and Vacationer and Pocket Cruiser) and she could be the first one I'll build.

But I don't know if I'll enjoy to build a boat, I think I need to buy and study the plans before. I don't know too if this boat is right for my navigation programs lets say to put the boat within the sea from the trailer, to go to navigate for few hours (say one or two only), then to take of the boat from the sea to put she on its trailer, to tidy it up and to return to work... So I need to try to build quick to quick know that ;-)

I've write to Stevenson Project but nobody answered me :-(
So I put my questions here hoping some of you gentlemen can answer a bit.

First : if nobody answer when I send an email, what will happen if I buy plans via Visa here by "Secure Online Order" ? I read here some folks have received their own ordered plans without any email from the company, but I wouldn't send some money to somebody which never answer me !

Also I'll need an invoice for my buying, is Stevenson able to do ones ?

Then :
Is Weekender able to navigate up to 6 bf wind ?
What are within the Weekender plans ?
Are they in Metric plus the Imperial measurement ?
Is the building process detailed within a manual ?
Do Stevenson give on line support ? (And how ?)
Will someone in the word be able to give some news about the Stevenson Project ?

Thank you for your time reading me and maybe answering some questions, and be sure I apologize for my bad English writing as I'm not English fluent.

Best Regards,
Guy.
Welcome to the BYYB. The Stevensons have been on Hiatus for some time. Someone posted that they were moving from one state to another. Their website has been updated just recently so they may be more active soon.

I may not be the best person here to recommend building a Weekender or Vacationer but I can recommend building your own boat. I am just completing mt first boat, the Stevenson's Triad. It is smaller then the Weekender but was all the project I felt I could manage at the time. Building the boat is something I will remember with a smile and pride.

I a agonized over parts of the build process and was unsure of a lot of it but the support of the members of this forum got me past those moments. The members here freely share their knowledge and ideas. They have a wealth of experience, many have built several boats and some are professionals in the field of boat building and restoration. There are even boat designers on the forum that can help with ideas to modify the Stevenson's fine designs.

Again welcome to the BYYB and good luck with your dream of building your own boat.
Good morning Guy,

I have reviewed all of the photos you sent with great interest. The skill you and you wife have acquired are more than sufficient to build the Stevenson Boats. These boats are quite simple "stressed box" construction and would go together quite fast for someone with your experience. The Vacationer would be my recommendation for you knowing something about your waters. I lived for some years in Belguim, near Mons. I must tell you that these Steen designs are not for open water. They are shallow draft fixed keel and are more tabloid yachts than anything else. The Vacationer will handle some rough seas but is hampered by low freeboard at the stern. The hull has a nice flair and reserve buoyancy but will take water from a large following sea. Protected bays, inlets, and lakes are the intended sailing areas for these boats. That said, if you watch the weather and sea states and stay close to shelter they can be used most anywhere. Reef early and go home when it gets rough. It takes from 30 to 45 minutes to rig and launch my Vacationer. It all depends on how you have rigged her and what modifications you may have added to make launch and recovery quicker. Feel free to ask us anything and we will try to help. Move your posts to the Builders Forum as not many folks monitor this forum.

The Stevensons have been a bit reclusive lately. They have been moving the business we think and not able to keep up with everything. E-mails are not being answered and plans are slow to arrive. I would order using PAY PAL if I were you or wait until they are fully back on line and corresponding with customers again. Others who have used the PayPal service have received their plans in just a few weeks. If you mean a ordinary sales invoice, then yes they will provide one with your order. I believe the movie may be of benefit to you where the English is not clear in the plans. Otherwise you are beyond that with your skills already. With a mast modification and a small gas motor the Vacationer would make a very nice cannaller. She is 96” wide at the maximum beam and ~22’ on deck. Oh yes, the plans are all in imperial measure, sorry. The plans are a set of drawings and narrative combined. No real lofting is required.

Welcome aboard to you and your wife and I hope to be hearing from you soon

Thanks Terry and Gray for this welcome and these informations.

Could you tell me what is on the Stevenson DVDs ?

Also I wonder why one Plan+DVDs set price is $90 while plan alone is $35 and DVDs $42 (say $77 for plan+DVDs without 'set'). May be I'm wrong and don't understand something, so could you explain please ?

Is there only one set of DVDs, or some for each plan ? (ie: one for Weekender, one other for Vacationer and so on)

nb: Gray, I'll not move my presentation message on other forum as I want to respect the charter, but if you want you can post a link to it from an other forum, you're welcome for that !

ATB,
Guy.
