I laminated 1X2s into a piece to cut my rudder out of. It is strong, pretty, and turns the boat right well. I think their is a picture of it somewhere that Brian Walters took at the Sailstice this year.

That's one thing about the Mini-cup that I've thought was a bit odd. No way to easily drop sail in bad weather.

I wish I had caught her in full frame in the first one.  She was running around so fast though, it was hard enough to get her in focus, let alone perfectly framed.  That first one was the best action shot out of about 25.  Man, I love digital, just shoot away and toss what didnt work.
