Ok, this is probably a dumb thought or question. I'm not sure which so just humor me for a minute. Could I use Cypress instead of the clear fir called for in the Vacationer plans?

I saw the cypress used in a boat on the internet a few days ago and for the life of me I can't find it again. I figured you guys could kick me the right direction.

According to the BOATBUILDING WITH PLYWOOD info at the Glen-L site,
Quote:CYPRESS, BALD
...Moderately strong, it is highly decay resistant, but soaks up a lot of moisture. Its primary use is in conventional planking, and therefore has little use in plywood boat building.

There is a lot of info on woods for boat building there.

A lot of small boat builders use sinker cypress that they salvage and dry out. Here is a representative link.
