I am attempting to make wood mast hoops out of Ash, and I was wondering what thickness I should cut the strips? I've got some strips that are about 1/8 in. and they seem pretty stiff. I'd like to make them thicker, maybe 3/16 or even 1/4, but I'm thinking that might be too stiff. I've got the steaming set-up ready to go. Any suggestions? Thanks.
