For a quick up and back day sail
Things turned out OK,
We meant to go to Sand Hollow,
But it didn't turn out that way.

Got there about 10:00 am
It was a beautiful, gorgeous day,
The Ranger stopped us from going in
They were having a Triathalon today.

The dock would be closed till 1:00 pm,
They wouldn't let anyone go,
So I pulled on over to the side of the road
And waited for Adla to show.

When she came along I told her the scoop
And without batting an eye she said,
"If they won't let us sail at Sand Hollow,
Let's go to Quail Lake instead".

It was five miles away, not very far,
So that's where our day was spent.
Paid our fees and set up our boats
And into the lake we went.

There wasn't much wind to speak of,
Just an occasional gust,
It would scoot you along then drop you flat,
But it wasn't really a bust.

Every time Adla creeped on deck
To raise her main sail, I think,
Some jerk in a stinkpot would race on by
And try to dump her in the drink.

She went on over to a secluded spot
And threw in her fishing line,
I continued my sailing education,
Having a real good time.

I guess we were out there three hours,
My blood sugar was dropping like a rock,
That's the joy of being diabetic,
So I headed in to the dock.

Managed to secure the boat to the dock,
Adla saw me and came on back,
We both took a break, got out of the sun,
And had us a little snack.

I had planned to go out sailing again
For another hour or so,
But the wind picked up , blowing like stink,
I decided it was time to go.

We helped each other load our boats,
We were glad we wern't alone,
Buttoned 'em up and said goodby
And headed straight for home.

Put the Falcon away, cut the lawn,
Had a shower and something to eat,
I'm tired but I'm thinking "what a great day",
A day sailing with Adla is hard to beat.

Thanks girl!
Thanks Steve --

I stayed the night and wandered home sunday at my leisure....I was glad to be on the water and not too worried about sailing ~~ I was much too tired from this last week of work and school to be trying to figure out how not to lose my gaff jaws altogether...they were cracked from the Lake Mead event....

Steve - The Falcon looked great.....you got lots of good sailing in and the wind was just right for you it seemed (until after our late snack) ---

I never did catch a fish Sad oh well ---

Thanks for the day of sailing and boating...it is sure nice to have a friend to sail with!!!

Glad you made it home alright. We'll have to do it again sometime. I ordered that receptical from West Marine today and checked out a marine battery at Ace Hardware. It will be nice to get that all hooked up and operating. Thanks again. Enjoy your summer!
